Are You Being Poisoned?

We read it in the news headlines: There’s mercury in our seafood, hormones in our dairy products or poultry, and pesticides in our fresh fruits and vegetables. Toxins are all around us. Detoxification gives the body organs a rest, stimulates the liver to drive out toxins from the body, eliminates toxins from the intestines, kidneys and skin, and improves blood circulation. A detoxification is a time of reflection, where we listen to our body’s needs and learn what is good for it.

There are many ways to detox – some follow a strict diet of raw vegetables, some choose to go on a full fast, some follow a diet of herbs and supplements. Do not starve yourself, you must give your body the vitamins and nutrients it needs too! Speak to your doctor before starting on a detox (especially if you have got pre existing health conditions).

One important part to cleanse is your colon. A huge amount of toxins accumulate in your colon and it is necessarily to get your colon cleansed. A person with an unhealthy colon can face constipation, abdominal pain, acne, various skin irritations, lack of energy and all these might even lead to cancer. Upon completing the cleansing process, you might even find yourself weighing a few pounds lighter!

Not to forget to cleanse your liver too, the part that is responsible for many processes including digesting of fats, and breaking down potentially toxic substances. One must realise that the liver acts as a filter for the body and needs to be purged of toxins to function optimally.
